From Surfers Paradise to Mermaid Beach, visitors and locals alike flock to the city’s beaches to enjoy a day out in the sun by sunbathing, strolling on the stunning white sand beaches and people watching. Our stunning white sand beaches typically top the lists of things to do on the Gold Coast.
2. Ride the waves with an array of water sports
Why not make the most of the Gold Coast’s shallow waters by having an adventure on the water? With a long history of water sports in the city, there are a multitude of options to choose from. Get to grips with the jet ski, snorkel amongst the turtles, or learn to paddleboard or scuba dive within one of the many great diving schools. Alternatively, simply swim in the pleasant waters to relax and refresh.
3. Get a head for heights at the theme parks
Take in the sights of the Gold Coast from the vantage point of a rollercoaster hurtling down at one of the many theme parks in the city. From the magical Dreamworld by DreamWorks, to the exhilarating world of Warner Bros Movie World, the Gold Coast is the place to go if you have a head for heights. Looking for something more relaxed and low key? A crowd favourite, Sea World allows you to see beautiful marine creatures in their habitat. Filled with exciting exhibitions and activities for kids, it is no surprise that Sea World is considered one of the Gold Coast’s top attractions for kids.
4. Spend a day shopping in the markets or malls
The Gold Coast is a relaxed shopper’s paradise. Intertwining the casual atmosphere of a beachside city and the high-end shopping experience, many of the Gold Coast’s shopping centres deliver on the term ‘retail therapy’. If you are on the hunt for souvenirs for friends and family back home, head to the Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre for over 200 stores offering excellent discounts. Alternatively, the Palm Beach Food & Farmers’ Markets offer many tasty treats and knick-knacks to explore. The Marina Mirage Shopping Centre, located just minutes away from the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, is a true shopper’s paradise with stores laid out in an open setting by the marina. Or visit the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, after its redevelopment completes in mid-2016, and enjoy the largest shopping centre in Queensland.
